Vijai wonders how the Lotus bloomed in Curtorim wards

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | MAY 01, 2021, 12:00 AM IST

Has Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai anything to say on the BJP victory in the two Margao Municipal wards coming under Curtorim Assembly constituency? Well, pose the question to the Fatorda MLA and apt comes a reply that the question should be directed at Curtorim Congress MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco. He does not stop there. Though Reginaldbab was part of the Margao Civic Alliance, Vijaibab wondered how the Lotus has bloomed in the two wards. Vijaibab must have certainly discussed the poll result with his Curtorim counterpart. Any questions?

Congmen wary of party prospects in Kerala

Congress veteran Luizinhbab Faleiro must have certainly received calls from party leaders and workers after the Exit polls showed that the party may not return to power in Kerala. For, Luizinhbab was one of the emissaries sent to Kerala by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the run up to the Assembly polls. In fact, when the Exit polls put the Congress to bad light in Kerala, local congressmen here began to keep their fingers crossed over the party’s prospects in God’s own country. Luizinhbab, sources said, was sent to Kerala with the mission to call on leaders enjoying influence over the party’s traditional vote bank.

Damu happy ST experiment worked?

Why is BJP leader Damubab Naik happy over the MMC election result when rival Goa Forward chief won eight out of the 11 seats at stake in Fatorda? One, the two-time former BJP MLA is happy that he has stopped his rival from repeating the 2015 feat when the Fatorda Forward had won all the 11 seats at stake. That’s not all. Damu apparently believes that the BJP-ST experiment has somehow worked in the civic polls, giving him a ray of hope ahead of the 2022 election. Any takers?

No sign of Churchill post-MMC poll results

Where’s Varca strongman, Bab Churchill? Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai sought to know after Margao Municipal results started trickling in on the counting day. Reason: Vijaibab was apparently looking for Churchillbab just to convey him the message that his candidate, former MMC chairperson Gonzaco Rebello had finished fourth in Ward No. 1 of the civic body. In fact, Vijaibab was looking out for someone who could send the score sheet to the Benaulim MLA with a message that his candidate has lost miserably in his fiefdom.

Show of ‘brotherhood’

Election of newly-elected Paroda Sarpanch Deepakbab Karangate makes reading interesting. Elected unopposed in the home village of Cuncolim MLA Clafaciobab Dias, Deepakbab is the vice-president of the South Goa district Congress Committee. No sooner was Deepakbab declared elected unopposed, Clafaciobab rushed to congratulate him with a bouquet of flowers. By noon, Opposition Leader Diggu and district Congress chief Joebab Dias wished Deepakbab with a flower bouquet. Interesting isn’t it?
