Reginaldo’s midnight meet under scanner

Congress working president Reginaldbab Lourenco’s self-goal over his reported midnight meeting seemed to have given an armament for his opponents to corner him in the party fora. His opponents from Curtorim and outside say the midnight meeting has indeed left the party embarrassed on the eve of the Assembly polls. His bitter critics in private even say the three-time MLA should not be allowed to go scot-free. In fact, sources say Reggie has now come under the radar of top party leaders in Delhi. Wait and watch how the party handles the issue.

All eyes on Cong aspirants’ list

Who are the Congress aspirants whose names figure in the first list of party candidates for the 2022 polls? Well, GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar’s announcement that the Congress may unveil the first list of candidates in the first week of December has generated interest amongst aspirants, more so in Saxttidom where more than one candidate are vying for the tickets. Barring Diggu’s fiefdom Margao, there seemed no dearth of candidates vying for the Congress tickets in the remaining seats in Saxttidom. Wait and watch.

Aleixo recalls ticket denial in 2017

It was a week when Congress working president Aleixobab Sequeira remembered how he and his former Ministerial colleague, Joaquimbab Alemao were denied tickets in the 2017 Assembly polls. Aleixobab was in Cuncolim along with Joaquimbab Alemao to participate in the party’s Margayecho Jagor. In the presence of party top leader Dinesh Gundu Rao, Aleixobab recalled how a Congress leader took revenge on him and Joaquimbab by denying them the tickets in 2017. Which leader was Aleixobab referring to? No prize for the right answer.

Churchill opts football over party meet

It was a week when Varca strongman Bab Churchill accorded priority for football than to his NCP party. In fact, tongues were left wagging when the Benaulim MLA was conspicuous by his absence at the NCP mahila national executive meeting that took place in his constituency. That party chief Josebab Philip later confirmed that Churchillbab was busy watching football only gave rise to speculations whether the NCP lone MLA has made up his mind on his political future. Wait till November 29 for an answer.

Damu confident of party ticket in Fatorda

Is there any possibility of the saffron brigade testing a new face in Fatorda to take on arch rival Vijaibab Sardesai in the coming polls? No way, says two-time former MLA Damubab Naik. He blames opponents for spreading rumours that the party may opt for a new face in Fatorda in 2022. Damubab appeared confident of getting the party nomination, so much so he and his close aides question whether the party has any other leader, capable enough to take on Vijaibab in the ensuing polls. Any questions?
