Sawant’s pitch for research journalism

Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant batted for research journalism to bring out facts in public domain. As the raging controversy over the controversial structure at the Old Goa heritage site brought politicians and political parties under the radar of Niz Goemkars, the CM said the fourth estate should play its role in research journalism. The CM’s remarks came a day after Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai denied his involvement in the matter. What exactly was the CM trying to ask the scribes  – to dig into the facts, which will nail all persons and parties involved in the episode. Wait and watch.

Sardinha optimistic he can give Goans justice

South Goa MP Franciscbab Sardinha apparently feels that he is quite capable to raise issues facing Goa and Goans in Parliament, notwithstanding the election of veteran politician Luizinhbab Faleiro to the Rajya Sabha via Bengal. The four-time MP does not think that he needs coordination from any other MP to raise Goan issues at the Centre, when he has been sent by people of South Goa to act as an ambassador at the Centre. While ruling out coordination with Luizinhbab or any other MP, Sardinhbab says he will function alone to give justice to Goans. Any takers?

Congress leaders from Nuvem constituency and outside came in for a shock when an ongoing election-related survey conducted by an outstation agency revealed they were assessing the prospects of probable Congress candidates, including one who was not even a party member. It’s an open secret that heavyweight Aleixobab Sequeira, Eversonbab Vales and Rajubab Cabral have all staked claim for the Nuvem ticket. Congress circles, however, was abuzz with reports that the survey was also trying to find out the prospects of a politician, whose name has been doing the rounds in local circles as a probable NCP candidate. Interesting, isn’t it?

A day when Benaulim Cong meet was postponed

Flamboyant Mickkybab Pacheco called up all and sundry in the Congress just to find out why the party postponed the Benaulim block Congress meeting scheduled on Friday to recommend names of candidates. Realising that no meeting of the Benaulim block Congress had taken place on Friday, Mickky called up party leaders, including M K Sheikh and right up to Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao to know the reasons behind the meeting postponement. Sources say Mickkybab calmed down only when he was reassured by party leaders that the postponed meeting will take place at the earliest. Any questions?

Churchill planning to embrace TMC?

Strong rumours did the rounds in Saxtti countryside that the Varca strongman Bab Churchill may finally embrace the TMC during the weekend. In fact, friends and foes of the Benaulim MLA have been anxiously trying to find out whether Churchillbab has finally decided to sever ties with the NCP. Churchillbab, however, seemed not in a hurry to quit the NCP. He said he would first take a call on his future political career on November 29 before taking a decision on embracing any other party. Wait and watch.
