Suspense over Luizinho contesting continues

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | JANUARY 22, 2022, 12:40 AM IST

Suspense continues over TMC’s decision to field MP Luizinho Faleiro in Fatorda to cross swords with Goa Forward chief in Fatorda. While Faleiro in private has told his close aides that he has shot down the proposal to contest from Fatorda, he, however, is yet to come out with an official statement on the exact position. Scribes descending at Luchel Caminho de Monte atop Borda hillock, hoping to get an official confirmation, only return back to office after being told that Faleiro is not at home.

It’s Babu vs Baba in Margao

It’s Babu (Manohar Ajgaonkar) versus Baba (Digambar Kamat) for the Margao seat. The duo will be crossing swords for the Margao seat after a gap of 28 years. The duo had fought for the Margao seat in 1994. While Digambar Kamat had won the polls on the BJP symbol, Babu was in the fray as an independent. Much water has flowed down the river Sal since 1994. Digambar is contesting the ensuing polls on the Congress Hand symbol, while Babu has emerged as his challenger on the Lotus symbol. Wait and watch.

Reginaldo camp ecstatic over BJP support?

When BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade was in Saxttidom on Thursday, he went out of the way to explain that the party will field a candidate for the Curtorim seat. That’s not all. Tanavade told the media that though former MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has approached the party for support, the party will have its own candidate in Curtorim. The Reginaldo camp should be happy over Tanavade’s statement as it would clear the air of suspicion that Reginaldo is being backed by the BJP in the ensuing polls.

Snubbed by Cong, Mickky planning to join NCP

Will NCP chief Jose Philip D’Souza and flamboyant former Minister Mickky Pacheco shake hands and say let bygones be bygones. With the Congress leaving him high and dry by rejecting his claim for the Benaulim ticket, sources say Mickky may finally land in the NCP after a gap of a decade. Relations between Jose Philip and Mickky had strained when the duo were in the NCP. Sources say the political equation may see return of Mickky into the NCP. That’s not all. Mickky, sources say, may also return to his home constituency Nuvem in the ensuing polls.

Cong Benaulim candidate has task at hand

Two days after quitting the Trinamool Congress, Tiatr Director Tony (Cokd) Dias is finally the Congress candidate for the Benaulim seat. His speeches in support of the TMC during his stint in the Mamata Didi party, however, have started doing the rounds on the social media since the time the Congress declared him as the party candidate. The task before Tony for the moment is simple – how would he go about telling the people of Benaulim that he is no more with the TMC, but is now a Congress candidate.
