When Ravi kept mum over Cong MLAs issue

When Ravi kept mum over Cong MLAs issue

The weekend saw Minister Ravibab Naik preferring to keep mum when scribes questioned whether he is in favour of the BJP inducting Congress MLAs into the party-fold. Diggu was standing alongside Ravibab when the scribes posed the query. Ravibab who has been Diggu’s critic since the Chief Minister’s Kodel was literally snatched from him in 2007, declined to comment. Realisation later dawned on scribes that Ravibab must have maintained silence with Diggu around, since the Margao MLA’s name had figured in the list of Congress MLAs when speculations were rife a month ago. Any takers?

Is Churchill bracing up for LS polls?

Is Varca strongman Bab Churchill bracing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls? Post-panchayat election, Churchillbab seems back in action. He says his close supporters in Benaulim constituency are back in the panchayats. And, he reminded all and sundry that he cannot forget Benaulikars for shaping his political career and sought pardon from his constituents if he had done anything wrong. Ask him whether he is bracing up for the Lok Sabha polls and Churchillbab comes with a reply saying people from South Goa want him back as an MP. Wait and watch as Churchillbab says there’s still time to take a call on Lok Sabha polls.

Clafacio scores brownie point against Yuri

The panchayat polls came in handy for former Cuncolim MLA Clafaciobab Dias to score a brownie point against arch rival MLA Yuribab Alemao. Just a couple of months ago, Clafaciobab had lost to the Alemaos in the battle for supremacy for Cuncolim. Yuribab must have performed well in the panchayat elections too. Clafaciobab, however, scored a point when he ensured that his fort in his home village Paroda remained intact. That the former MLA went to the town stating he had fielded a panel for Paroda on the day of polling indicates he was confident of a victory.

Only BJP fielded panel in Navelim

A host of political parties had contested the 2022 Assembly polls for the Navelim seat. Be it the Congress, TMC, AAP, NCP and others were in the fray along with the saffron brigade for honours in 2022. To the surprise of political observers, only the BJP and party MLA Ulhasbab Tuenkar made no secret of the fact that the party has fielded a panel for the panchayat polls. Leave alone fielding candidates, leaders of other political parties were not even seen on the ground on polling day. Interesting, isn’t it?

Number 12 proves lucky for the Pachecos

Mickkybab Pacheco’s wife Violabai reminded scribes covering the panchayat election counting how lucky No. 12 is for her family. With husband Mickkybab’s birthday falling on December 12 and the fleet of vehicles sporting registration No. 12, Violabai must have been happy when the election officials took up counting of ballots on the No. 12 table. And, when the election officials announced her victory in the husting, Violabai pointed to the No. 12, suggesting the number has turned out lucky for her family. Any questions?
