Sesa Football Academy (SFA) alumnus Shoib Akhtar has joined I-League champions Gokulam Kerala FC for the upcoming season.
The 21-year-old Manipuri defender, who completed his training at SFA from 2017-20, had represented SFA's team in Goa Pro League and the AIFF Elite League in the 2018-19 season and he also played for I-League side Neroca FC in the 2020-21 season, making 10 appearances.
Since its inception in 1999, over 230 players have completed their football training at SFA. In order to expand the reach of the grassroots football training initiative, SFA conducted all-India selection trials in 2017 for the first time across various parts of the country and Shoib was part of the all-India batch of the academy.
