St Anthony SC ease past Sinquerim SC 3-0

St Anthony Sports Club, Marna scored an easy 3-0 win over Sinquerim Sports Club to move into the quarterfinals of the 15th London Trophy Inter-village football tournament organised by Goa Velha Sports Club at Goa Velha Sports Club ground.

At half time, the teams were locked in a goalless draw. Dalesh Pednekar put St Anthony ahead when he shot home from close, beating Sinquerim keeper Chaitan Sankhalkar in the first minute of the second half. Dalesh made it 2-0 as he shot past a stranded Sinquerim keeper in the 60th minute of play.

Substitute Nathan D'Souza scored the third goal for St Anthony when he lobbed the ball over the Sinquerim keeper into the nets. Dalesh Pednekar of St Anthony was given the Man of the Match prize by Laxman Hadfadkar, Executive Committee member of GFA.

DBO Fatorda seal finals berth
Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda beat Canacona Cultural Sports Club by a solitary goal to enter the final of the Late Afonso Aguiar Memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union at Cuncolim School Playground on Saturday.

In the first half, Canacona dominated the proceedings but former East Bengal midfielder Covan Lobo and Velvino Fernandes missed easy opportunities with only the rival goalkeeper to beat as Fatorda keeper Sydney Furtado made good saves.

In the second half, Fatorda struck the match-winner in the 37th minute through Cruzer Barretto, who netted off a pass from Cliff Barretto. Fatorda goalkeeper Sydney Furtado was named the Man of the Match and was awarded at the hands of Bharat Ramanuj, a businessman.

King's School U-14 girls State football champs
PANAJI: The King’s School, Sao Jose de Areal won the DSYA U-14 Girls State Inter-school football tournament organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs with a 5-0 win over Our Lady of Rosary High School, Dona Paula at Dramapur ground.

The King’s School took the lead through Neha Verlekar off an assist from Valaina Fernandes, within the first three minutes. In the second half, the King’s School girls dominated and Analee D’Costa doubled the lead with another assist from Valaina. Neha turned the provider as Valaina made it 3-0. Analee scored the fourth goal with an assist from Vania Rodrigues, and Valaina made it 5-0 as Neha gave her second assist.
