Ritviz wins Agarwal Open chess title

IM aspirant Ritviz Parab (2137) got the better of Sairaj Vernekar (1377) in the final round to retain the top position for the second time in succession at the 3rd Late Smt Premlata Omprakash Agarwal All Goa Open Rapid FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2022 at BPS Sports Club on Sunday.

Ritviz bagged a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy. The second prize was claimed by Vivaan Ballikar (1372), who beat higher seeded bronze medallist Reuben Colaco (1441). Reuben had managed a draw with top seed Ritviz in the penultimate round.

Vivaan bagged a prize of Rs 7,000 and a trophy. Paarth Salvi (1354) beat Atharv Narayan to retain third spot and won a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a trophy. The time control was 25 minutes + 5 seconds from move 1.

145 players from Goa participated in the tournament, out of which 55 were rated players. The total prize money for the tournament was Rs 50,000 and cash prizes along with trophies were given to top 20 players.
