Goans Hockey left humiliated by Manipur Hockey in junior championship

Manipur Hockey trounced Goans Hockey 15-1 in the opening group league match of the Hockey India junior championship in Punjab on Monday.

Of the 15 goals Manipur scored, 12 were field goals and three were penalty conversion while Goa’s only goal which came at the fag end of the match turned out to be a field goal.

Yumkham Bidyananda Singh opened the scoring in the fifth minute by scoring a field goal for Manipur and went on to score four goals, three of which were field goals and one penalty conversion.

Adhikarimayum Suresh Sharma scored the second goal for his team in the 15th minute and thereafter Ningombam Amarjit Singh added two more goals to make it 4-0.

Silheiba Lisham made it 5–0, Irengbam Rohit Singh made it a half dozen in the 31st minute with a field goal.

Manipur continued to score at will and continued to dictate terms with Yumkham scoring two field goals in the 38th and 43rd minutes to take the score line to 8-0. He added two more goals in the 53rd and 55th minutes.

Ningombam notched his hat-trick with goals in the 49th and 51st minutes to take the scoreline to double digits.

Thereafter, Yumkham added two goals to make it 12-0

Gurumayum Dingku Sharma and Silheiba Lisham added one goal each to the Manipur score line to make it 14-0 at the end of the 55th minute.

Kiran Suresh Lamani pulled one back for Goa with a minute left for the final whistle while Manipur completed the rout and humiliation of the Goans with a goal in the last minute of the match from Uttam Singh.

Hockey Maharashtra and Hockey Himachal are the other teams in the group.
