Uguem Rising win inter-village title

PANAJI
Uguem Rising Club won the 21st All Goa Inter-Village Football Tournament, defeating United Club of Ambaulim in the final at the URC ground, Uguem. The match was played on the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Piety Chapel and drew a large crowd. The only goal of the game came through Rutvik, whose snap shot beat the Ambaulim goalkeeper. The winners received the trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50,000, sponsored by Ireland Boys from Uguem. The runners-up were awarded a trophy and Rs 40,000, sponsored by USA Boys from Uguem.
Individual awards: First Scorer of the Finals – Prathamesh (UTC), Highest Scorer of the Finals – Rutik (URC), Best Goalkeeper – Tejas (URC) and Man of the Match – Terrence Fernandes (Ambaulim).

Goa’s Sushmita called up for India camp
MARGAO: Goan footballer Sushmita Jhadav has been named among the 25 probables for the India senior women’s national team camp at the National Centre of Excellence in Kolkata, beginning November 10. The camp is being held ahead of the November FIFA International Women’s Match Window. Another Goan, Karishma Shirvoikar, is already part of the ongoing camp as a member of the Indian side that qualified for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup final rounds in Australia. Details of India’s friendly matches in the November window, scheduled from November 24 to December 2, will be announced later. The national team is preparing for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 and recently played two friendlies against IR Iran and Nepal in the October FIFA window in Shillong.

Kulsum lands Philippines coaching role
MARGAO: Goan coach Kulsum Bi Shaikh has been appointed assistant coach of the Philippines Under-17 women’s football team for a one-year tenure during the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. This appointment makes her the first Goan and Indian woman to hold a coaching role with the Philippines national team. Kulsum holds the AFC ‘B’ Licence, earned under coach Pradhyum Reddy, and has a strong background in playing and coaching football. She played in the Goa Women’s League with Churchill FC and was assistant coach at Geno FC in the Goa Professional League. Her coaching credentials include roles with Odisha FC and Sethu FC in the Indian Women’s League.
