In an tough and close encounter, Batty Boys prevailed over T P Boys by a slender margin 2-1 to march into the final of Late Santan & Silvio Mendes Memorial football tournament sponsored by Sam’s Milmar Family Restaurant, Assolna and organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim and played at Fr Druston and Wellington Ground, Cavelossim.
The first goal was scored for Batty Boys off a clever move by Sheriff Jacques when he floated a long pass to Dwaine who passed the ball to Winson Pereira in the penalty area to head in.
Shaken by the goal, T P Boys mounted an all out attack with Raju and Elly combining well upfront to give harrowing time for Batty Boys with Raju Cardozo heading in the equaliser off a well taken corner by Edwin. The winning goal resulted due to silly blunder by the T P Boys. Dexter Barreto shot into the unguarded goal to seal a great win for Batty Boys.
Batty Boys will now play the winners of the other semis between ITS and Miracle Boys of Mobor.
