Churchill Brothers SC put up a splendid performance, crushing Kelbai Sports Club 6-0 in the 6th GFA Vedanta Women's League at Rosary ground, Navelim on Friday.
The highlight of the match was a brilliant four-goal blitz by Rizella Almeida. Churchill Brothers virtually toyed with the rival defence with well-orchestrated raids. At the other end, Kelbai struggled and were confined to their own half.
Churchill Brothers broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Rizella Almeida beat the rival goalkeeper with a snapshot. Rizella beat the rival goalkeeper with a snapshot in the 44th minute to make it 2-0.
The second half belonged to Churchill Brothers who teased and tormented the opposition. Rizella added one more goal in her kitty to put her team 3-0 ahead. Kelbai faced an uphill task as their opponents made merry against the rival defence as Rizella scored her fourth goal.
Aniela Baretto added her name to the scoresheet in the 69th minute before Pearl Fernandes drove the last nail into the rival coffin late in the second half.
DBO Fatorda move into semifinals
Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda crushed Sao Jose de Areal SC 4-1 to enter the semifinals of the Carmona Panchayat inter-village football tournament played at Carmona ground.
Don Bosco Oratory led 2-1 at the breather. Maxwell Furtado netted a brace while Francis Andrade and Hanslum Furtado scored a goal each for DBO. Listen D’Costa pulled a goal back for Sao Jose de Areal SC.
