The Goa Civil Service football team cruised to a commanding 8–0 win over the Madhya Pradesh Secretariat in the opening match of the All India Civil Services Football Tournament, organised by the Government of Goa in collaboration with the All India Civil Services Sports and Cultural Board, New Delhi.
Goa dominated from the outset, with Nellister Silveira scoring a brace, while Dr Ajay Gaude, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, added another. Ayan Sheikh, Yashwant More, Jayesh Kadam, and Harshad Gawade chipped in with a goal each to seal the emphatic victory.
In the second match of the day, Regional Sports Board Jaipur edged out the Maharashtra Secretariat 1–0, courtesy of a first-half strike by Sukhpreet Singh.
The tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Padma Shri awardee Brahmanand Sankhwalkar as chief guest. Bruno Coutinho, SAG Director (Coaching), was the guest of honour, while Devendra Kanojia (Observer, All India Civil Services Sports & Cultural Board), Sanjay Negi (Convenor, AICSSCB), and Dr Ajay Gaude (Director, DSYA) were also present.
