Goa head coach Shane Temudo has confirmed that his team is fully prepared for their opening clash against Telangana in Group A of the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for the Dr B.C. Roy Trophy. The match will take place on Sunday at the Sabhibzada Fateh Singh Football Stadium in Amritsar, Punjab.
Speaking to The Goan Everyday, Temudo shared his confidence after a solid performance in a recent friendly. “We played a preparatory match against the Sesa Football Academy juniors and came out with a win. That result has given us a significant boost as we aim to push further in the tournament,” he said.
Looking ahead to the crucial opener, Temudo stated, “We’ll be ready and in good shape for the match against Telangana. Our target is to reach the semi-finals, and we are preparing thoroughly to make that happen.”
He emphasized the importance of the tournament for the Goan football community, “This championship holds a special place in the hearts of Goans. It’s a prestigious competition and everyone wants to bring the trophy home. Our full attention is now on the Telangana game.”
Temudo also highlighted the strength of his squad, mentioning key players Messi Colaco and Clizner Noronha from the Reliance Foundation, who add depth and cohesion to the team. “They’ve blended well with the squad. Although the humidity in Punjab poses a challenge, we’ve been training to adapt to the weather conditions,” he noted.
Focusing on his team’s mindset, he added, “We’re concentrating on ourselves and doing everything we can to be at our best. All of our players are ready. What matters now is having the right mentality to face whatever Telangana brings.”
Temudo concluded with confidence: “We’ll be ready.”
