Jeronimo Colaco has been elected as the new president of Arlem Youth Association (AYA), one of the oldest clubs of Goa, for the third consecutive term at the annual general body meeting and elections held on Sunday at Arlem, Raia.
The 18-member new committee for the year 2022-24 was elected unopposed. The other members of the executive committee are: Vice-President - Marcos Gonsalves, General Secretary - Seby Gaunkar, Joint General Secretary - Dwayne Fernanes, Treasurer - Eusebio Colaco, and Joint-Treasurer - Johnson Cardozo, Culture Secretary- Rosario Colaco, Joint-Cultural Secretary - Alleluia Gauncar, Sports Secretary - Allwyn Dias, and Joint-Sports Secretary - Francisco Pango. Other executive members for the culture and sports wings include Floriano Fernandes, Franky Madredeous, Christopher D'Souza, Bush Cardozo, Valito D'Cruz, Jack Peter Dias, Sammy D'Souza and Oswald D'Souza. The election proceedings were conducted by Christopher D'Souza.
Benaulim Veterans shoot into quarterfinals
Benaulim Veterans edged Navelim Veterans 4-3 in the tiebreaker and moved into the quarterfinals of 1st Our Lady of Fatima Sports Club Veterans Cup 2022 organised by Our Lady of Fatima Sports Club, Baida-Chinchinim at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim.
At the end of regulation time the score was 0-0. In the tiebreaker, Pele Fernandes, Rommel D'Souza, Charles D'Silva and Francis D'Costa scored for Benaulim Veterans. Domnic Cabral, Claudio Dias, Inacio Costa scored for Navelim Veterans. Man of the match was awarded to Pele Fernandes of Benaulim Veterans.
Salcete Taluka chess tourney in Margao
Salcete Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of Goa Chess Ad Hoc Committee will conduct the All Goa U-7 (Open & Girls) Chess Selection and Championship 2022 on July 2 at Margao. The reporting time is 8.30 am at SAG Annexe to Badminton hall, near swimming pool, Fatorda. Players born or or after January 1, 2015 are eligible to participate in the Open and Girls category.
