FC Goa midfielder Princeton Rebello has joined the India U23 camp in Bengaluru ahead of their qualification campaign for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022.

The 22-year-old is the lone Goan among the 28 probables summoned for the tournament to be played from October 24 to 30 at the Fujairah Stadium, in Fujairah, UAE. India have been drawn alongside Oman, Kyrgyz Republic, and hosts UAE in Group E of the qualifiers.

“It is every young footballer’s dream to play for the country. I’m really thankful for this opportunity and now motivated to work hard to break into the national setup,” the Betalbatim-born playmaker said.

Rebello’s club team-mate, goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh has also reported for the camp after the senior national team’s title-winning SAFF Championship campaign in Male, Maldives. Suresh Singh, Lalengmawia Ralte, Jeakson Singh, and Rahim Ali are the other senior team players to join the U23 side.

The Blue Colts will open their qualification campaign against Oman on October 24.
