Navelim Villagers Union emerged victorious after defeating CRC Chinchinim 10-11 via sudden death in a high octane final of the 23rd All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8 a side Inter Village Tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim on August 15. Navelim goalkeeper Selvin Gomes was awarded the Man of the Match. The winners were awarded prize money of Rs 50,000 and a trophy while the runners-up received Rs 40,000 and a trophy. The prizes were awarded by Chief Guest Maymol Rocky (Former Head Coach of Indian Women Football National Team), Guest of Honour Fr Alex D' Souza (Parish Priest Chinchinim) and Cruz Silva (MLA Velim Constituency), Fr Chrysler D'Souza (Chaplain of Sirlim) and other dignitaries. A minute's silence was observed in honour of Sirlim Sports Club's Secretary, Late Oscar Da Costa, before the kickoff.
