Shantaban beat Bernard Carneiro 5-2 and moved into the next round of the Pogo Boys Cup football tournament organised by Pogo Boys Gainchem Bhat, Merces at Merces church ground on Saturday.
Nitin scored the first goal from a corner for Shantaban before Cyril scored four goals for the team. Joel reduced the deficit, scoring two goals for Bernard Carneiro. In another match, Fonsa Bhat drubbed Gaunchem Bhat 4-0. Savio scored a hat-trick and Nigel scored one goal for Fonsa Bhat.
Verna SC progress to semifinals
Verna SC blanked St Anthony Marna Siolim 4-1 and moved into the semifinals of the Late Pacheco Cup at village panchayat ground, Betalbatim on Saturday.
Pushparaj opened the scoreline for St Anthony in the 6th minute. Joaquim Abrancis netted a hat-trick for Verna, scoring in the 12th, 46th, and 60th minutes. In the 62nd minute, Savio Fernandes netted a goal for Verna while Pushparaj pulled a goal back for St Anthony Marna Siolim in the 79th minute. The Man of the match award was presented to Joaquim Abrancis of Verna.
Little Flowers reach Subroto final
Little Flower HS Calangute defeated St Thomas HS Aldona 2-0 and moved into the final of the U-17 girls Subroto Mukherjee football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs at Peddem sports complex, Mapusa on Saturday.
Little flower HS Calangute netted a goal each through Priya Sharma and Sonali Divkar. In another match, St Thomas HSS Aldona defeated St Xavier, HS Moira 2-0 and moved into the final. St Thomas HSS netted a brace through Sanvi Browar.
