Stessi Cardozo scored a treble as FC Goa outplayed Compassion FC 6-0 to maintain their perfect start in the Goa Football Association Vedanta Women's League, played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.

Skipper Vailanka D'Souza, Flani Costa and Joyvi Fernandes also got on to the scoresheet for the winning team.

FC Goa made just one change as Anline Fernandes came in place of Sujata Shetty while for Compassion FC, coach Milton Fernandes made six changes.

FC Goa started brightly playing a high-pressing game. Finding their opposition defence weak, they attacked in numbers and didn't take long before opening the account. The Gaurs scored through Stessi, who scored a pile driver from the edge of the box.

Compassion keeper Shubali Gaonkar had a busy day under the bar as she was tested time and again by the FC Goa women. They soon inflated their tally and this time Shubali couldn't stop Vailanka D'Souza's 35-yard stunner.

It couldn't get any worse for Compassion as their keeper Shubali had to be subbed off after dislocating her shoulder. Anoshka D'Souza, who came in as a replacement in the 27th minute wasn't spared either. FC Goa continued with their pressure and tripled their lead and it was Stessi again who capitalised on a keeper howler which gave the Gaurs a three-goal advantage at the break.

Soon after the restart, FC Goa continued to attack through Stessi and Joyvi Fernandes. Joyvi had her shot narrowly miss the target from the edge of the box.

FC Goa inflated their lead in the 53rd through Flani Costa, who on seeing the keeper out of the line, shot from a distance, which ended in a goal. FC Goa missed their fifth in the next minute when Flani played Stessi for her hat-trick inside the box, but her low shot hit the post and came back into the play.

At the other end, Compassion's Tanvi Sawant kept spraying passes ahead and in one such instance set Renediana Noronha through on goal, but the lass ran out of steam and shot wide with just the keeper at her mercy.

FC Goa scored their fifth in the 68th minute and this time Joyvi Fernandes made no mistake to score past the onrushing keeper. Stessi finally completed her hat-trick in the second-half injury time. Flani Costa dribbled past a couple of players in the middle and then set Stessi on the left. The striker covered some distance and scored with a fine finish to complete the rout.

GFA vice-president (south) Lavinio Rebello presented the player of the match award to Vailanka D'Souza of FC Goa.
