United Boys of Ambaulim won the Curtorim Panchayat Cup 2025 Inter-Village Football Tournament, defeating Parish Youth Nuvem 1-0 in the final at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Sunday. In an exciting final, Ambaulim missed an early chance when Soweil Fernandes’ header was saved by Nuvem goalkeeper Melrico Andrade. The breakthrough came in the 15th minute when Crimson Fernandes scored to put Ambaulim ahead at half-time.

Cuncolim Union win shootout thriller
MARGAO: Cuncolim Union came from behind to defeat Canacona Sports Club in the Navelim Villagers Union Trophy, winning 15–14 via sudden death after a dramatic penalty shootout. Canacona took the lead in the 19th minute through Brecen Rodrigues, but Cuncolim levelled three minutes later through Brizesh Shelke. The match ended 1–1 in regulation time and went to a long tiebreak where Cuncolim emerged winners. Cuncolim goalkeeper saved five penalties, while Canacona’s goalkeeper saved four in a tense finish.

Perpetual Succour reach U-16 final
MARGAO: Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim, entered the final of the Navelim Villagers Union Under-16 Inter-School Football Tournament, defeating St Jude High School, Betalbatim, 3-0 at Rosary Grounds, Navelim. Farlhan Lathewale opened the scoring, followed by goals from Liroy Gomes and Avital Neasso. Perpetual Succour will meet Mount Mary High School, Chinchinim, in the final on November 16 at 4 pm. Dr Francisco Lobo, Chairman of Navelim Villagers Union, presented the Man of the Match award to Farlhan Lathewale.

St Sebastiao in Velim Cup semis
MARGAO: St Sebastiao Youth Club, Murida-Fatorda, entered the semi-finals of the 20th Velim Panchayat Cup Football Tournament, organised by SWC Zaino, Velim. They defeated Macasana Welfare Club 2-1 at Velim Church grounds. Fatorda led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Richie and Cliff. Macasana reduced the margin through Milagres in the second half. Alfred Noronha of Fatorda was named Man of the Match.

Salgaocar open community outreach prog
MARGAO: Salgaocar FC conducted the opening ceremony of the 11th edition of its Community Outreach Programme on Sunday at Chicalim Panchayat Ground. The programme was inaugurated by Swati Salgaocar, Director of Vimson Group, in the presence of over 500 participating children from Vasco da Gama. The initiative aims to promote sports, health and community welfare. Former India age-group coach Jude Barretto and media professional Marcus Mergulhao were felicitated for their contribution to Goan football. The event was attended by GFA Executive Member Francisco Nunes, SFC Head of Operations Sanjiv Nagvenkar and General Secretary Amith Gaude. The programme was coordinated by Umer Muttawalli along with a team of 30 coaches and 30 volunteers.

Inter-school girls’ handball tourney
MARGAO: St Mary of the Angels Convent High School, Chinchinim, in association with the Parents-Teachers Association and supported by the Village Panchayat Chinchinim–Deussua, will organise a two-day Interschool Girls’ Handball Tournament on November 13 and 15. Headmistress Sr Flavia Vaz said the initiative would help foster fitness, confidence and leadership among girls. The PTA and panchayat have extended support for the event. Prizes include Rs 10,000 for first place, Rs 7,000 for second and Rs 5,000 for third, along with trophies, medals and participation certificates.
