Michel Castanha on Tuesday expressed her delight to be named in the Indian women’s national football team squad for the upcoming friendly matches in United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
“I will work hard to do well and prove myself,” the Goan defender said. On national coach Thomas Dennerby’s coaching philosophy, she said, “Thomas is a very good coach. I have been doing my best to develop myself under his style and improving myself every day. You always need to carry a positive mentality. I want to help my team as much as possible.”
The Curtorim-born defender said she is looking for the challenge of playing in the friendly matches ahead of the AFC Women’s Championship. “These matches are very important to strive and gauge our strength and weakness,” Castanha said.
Meanwhile, her State mate Karishma Shirvoikar was bitterly disappointed after failing to make the cut in the 23-member Indian squad.
