With a view of promoting talent in singing, preserving and reviewing the tradition of Tiatr songs and also to take new initiatives in the line of Goan rich heritage of Tiatr performances, the Kala Academy Goa organizing the 16th Cantaram Competition which will be held on October 13 -14., 2018 at the Black Box of Kala Academy. The last date for receipt of duly filled in prescribed entry forms for participation is October 10, 2018 and the entry forms in the prescribed format along with copy the rules and regulations will be available at the Prog. & Dev. Section of Kala Academy w. e. f October 1, 2018.
The competition is organized with the performances of decent and comical Cantaram under one category only. There shall be three prizes in each sub category i.e Solo Male (Junior), Solo Male (Senior) and Solo Female(Junior), Solo Female(Senior), Duet, Due, Trio, Quartet (group) and choral cantar singing. Junior & Senior Categories have been introduced since last year in Solo (Male) and Solo (Female) singing. Male & Female participating in Solo singing below and upto the age of 16 years shall be considered for solo(junior) whereas participants above 16 years of age shall have to compulsorily participate in solo (Senior) in both Male & Female category as the case may be. The date for determining the age for Junior & Senior will be considered on the completed age as on the date of holding the competition i.e October 13, 2018.
The competition shall be open to all the Goan artistes. There shall be no entry fee for participation in the competition. However, each participant will be paid T.A as per the norms of Kala Academy. The artists shall be allowed to send only one entry in each category and the duration of each cantar should not exceed 7 minutes. The entries should be supported by four copies of lyrics and also N.O.C from the original composer, if any. The rehearsal of the artists with band music will be on October 12, 2018 from 10.00 a.m to 5.00 p.m at the Black Box, Kala Academy Complex, Panaji-Goa.
All the interested cantaram singers willing to participate in the said competition may collect the entry forms which will be available in the Prog. & Development Section of Kala Academy w. e. f. October 1, 2018 during office hours and may also note that the last date for submission of entries in the prescribed format is October 10, 2018. Incomplete and entries submitted beyond the stipulated last date shall not be accepted.
