Tivim SC won the 1st Tivim
inter-ward football festival tournament organised by Tivim SC at Tivim panchayat ground on Sunday defeating Danva Boys in the penalty shootout.
Danva Boys took the lead early on through Santil’s header. But their joy was short-lived as they conced the goal-advantage through an own goal on the shot of Chetan of Tivim SC. At the breather, the scores stayed level at 1-1.
Crossing over, Danva Boys took the lead once again through Manthan who neatly tucked the ball in the right corner of the nylons. In the dying minutes of the match, Tivim SC found the equalizer throgh the boots of Edler Periera to take the game into penalties.
In the ensuing shoot-out, Tivim S.C proved to be better side and lifted the first Tivim interward title.
Chief Guest Omkar Vaigankar congratulated both the teams on dishing out an enthralling encounter. He also highlighted the
negligence on an overused Thivim panchayat
ground and requested the authorities to renovate the ground which is in dire need of a face-lift.
The winning Thivim SC team received their award from Omkar vaigankar while runners-up Danva Boys were given their award by Fr Joseph Correia. Fr Mariano Silveira gave the third place prize to RST Madel.
