The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has slammed St Xavier’s College in Mapusa for deliberately delaying the swearing-in ceremony of the elected students’ council, the reason why the students protested last week.
Reacting to the chaos around the protest, ABVP North Goa Office Secretary Nikita Parsekar stated that the student wing’s protest on Saturday was peaceful.
“The peaceful protest was held because scores of requests by elected student representatives fell on the deaf ears of St Xavier’s College administration, so much so that they objected to receiving any request letter for over two months now,” she said addressing a press conference on Monday.
The members now demand immediate induction of the Students’ Council of the college failing which; it has warned to continue its agitation against the ‘biased college administration’.
It’s been over two months but the formal induction of the elected members is still not conducted. This is unhealthy for the student community since they are unable to participate in any intercollegiate event because of the uninstalled council,” she said.
