Still a college student and training to become a teacher, Sejal Naik (sejalnaik_94) is also growing a parallel career as a content creator. From her first Instagram post to working with brands in fashion, food, and travel, her journey has been shaped by persistence, discipline, and self-reliance.
Getting started
I began by posting on Instagram and slowly noticed that more posts brought more followers. That’s when I chose fashion as my main focus. Over time, people started recognising me. One day at a café, the owners recognised me and asked if I could promote their café on my Instagram. That was my first brand deal. After that, more offers followed, and that’s how my journey as a content creator began.
Managing challenges
Time management is my biggest challenge. I’m studying to become a teacher and staying as a paying guest far from home. I have college from morning till evening, then I look after my daily needs. After that, I work on my social media page. It gets hectic, but I manage. I attend classes during the week and keep weekends for shoots. I edit and post during the week. This routine helps me handle both my studies and my content work.
What independence means to me
Through social media, I’ve reached a point where I can support myself financially. Though my family can support me, I chose to take responsibility once I started earning. I even bought a car using my own money. Having the car has made me more serious about my content creation work, as I now have more responsibilities.
Brand partnerships
Once I started growing as a fashion creator, I expanded into food and travel. I now cover experiences, stays, services, and more. Brands approach me with ideas, and I try to create videos that match their vision while keeping my style. My aim is to give my followers useful and honest recommendations. I also want them to discover new places and experiences through my content.
Future plans
I plan to continue both, content creation and teaching, once I finish my studies. I’m careful not to promote anything harmful or negative. My family has supported me from the start, and I want to keep doing this even when I become a full-time teacher.
Dealing with competition
I don’t see competition as a threat. In fact, the more people join, the more creative everyone becomes. I think social media is a good space for people to explore their talents. It keeps them engaged in something positive. Content creation also teaches useful skills like video editing, shooting, and planning. These are things that can help anyone later in life. I just believe that while creating content, people should avoid promoting anything harmful or negative.
