The Goan Association UK organised a senior citizen’s festive party at the Wood Green, London, on December 30 at 12 noon.
The function, which was well attended, started with a minute’s silence in remembrance of the sudden passing away of a very loyal member of the Association Lavender Costa Fernandes, wife of Alex Costa Fernandes (former president of Goan Association UK), a highly ranked police officer in Nairobi.
The convenor of the function, Richard Fernandes, led the tribute to Lavender and paid his respects on behalf of the gathering, saying that all thoughts and prayers were with Alex.
The function was then opened, and ‘Nite Life’ DJ Xavier Alfonso provided the music for the crowd in attendance.
“Shirley’s Catering” provided the catering of authentic mouth-watering Goan cuisine, while there was a Raffle & Bingo which gave the guests a bit of a break from the dance floor.
Richard Fernandes then proposed a vote of thanks and said the events were continuing to draw jam-packed attendances. He thanked the guests for their attendance on the day and also expressed his gratitude to Rosy Da Silva, Bernadette Dias, Bella Fernandes, Siprosa da Costa, Ilona Fernandes, Xavier Alfonso, Henry and Ophelia Castellino for helping in organising the event. Forthcoming events will soon be published on The Goan Association UK website.
