
MARGAO: A memorial meet titled ‘Remembering Patrao’ was held in Margao on Saturday to pay tributes to former Chief Minister late Ravi Sitaram Naik, fondly remembered as “Nischayacha Mahaneru” — a man of conviction and compassion.
Speakers recalled his leadership and simplicity, describing him as a true champion of the common man. Youth leader Prabhav Naik said Ravi Naik believed in “action, not slogans”, while Bhandari Samaj leader Sanjeev Naik remembered him as “a friend and teacher who taught us to stand by what’s right.”
Prof Ramrao Wagh highlighted his vision for youth and education, noting that Naik’s ideals of self-reliance continue to inspire. Other speakers praised his fearless and inclusive leadership. Veteran journalist Anil Pai urged that his life story be documented for future generations. The event concluded with a pledge to uphold Ravi Naik’s legacy of determination and service to Goa.
