‘Kalljidar Zhuzari” (The Courageous Soldier), a book on the life of St Ignatius of Loyola, was released at the hands of Fr Patricio Fernandes sj, Rector of the Basilica of Bom Jesus-Old Goa on the occasion of the feast of St Francis Xavier during the Holy Eucharist celebrated by the Jesuits of Goa province. St Ignatius of Loyola alongwith his band of 6 friends, Francis Xavier, Peter Favre, Simon Rodriguez, James Lainez, Alonso Salmeron and Nicolas Alfonso de Bobadilla founded the Society of Jesus and placed themselves at the service of the Holy See with the motto of winning souls for heaven. Michael Jude Gracias, journalist and renowned writer having penned 16 books in English and Konkani in Roman script, has authored this book published by Agnelo Alcasoas for Queeny Productions & Publications. The ‘Nihil Obstat’ for publication has been given by the Rector of the Basilica, Fr Patricio Fernandes sj and the Imprimatur for the publication has been granted by Archbishop Patriarch of Goa & Daman, Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão. As Goans the world over prepare for the solemn exposition of the relics of Goencho Saib, St Francis Xavier, the book gives insight into the conversion, formation and the call of St Francis Xavier under the mentorship of St Ignatius.
