MARGAO: Chandor Club scored a 6-5 win via the tie-breaker over Augustias Sporting Club to move into the quarter-finals of 16th London Trophy inter village football tournament, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club, at Goa Velha Sports Club ground.
Chandor Club moved ahead in the 35th minute through Cruz Gomes who shot home off a corner taken by Mario Fernandes. Chandor Club led by a solitary goal at the break.
Augustias SC came out with an attacking brand of soccer in the second half and managed to restore parity through Akash Parwar in the 60th minute. The match ended with 1-1 scoreline.
In the resultant tiebreaker, Chandor Club converted through Mario Fernandes, Viton Fernandes, Akram Yadwad, Rizbon Fernandes and Sevaraj D'Costa. Augustias SC scored through Pundalik Naik, Pavan Deusekar, Rohan Naik and Bhuvan Parwar.
Akram Yadwad was awarded the Man of the Match by Mr. Jose Silva, Member of Goa Velha Sports Club based in the United Kingdom.
