At the two-day National Seminar held at Tirupati last week organised by Academy of Grassroot studies and research in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Sciences New Delhi, Nelly Rodrigues was conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Shakti National Award for her work in the field of Women Empowerment amongst the 6 awardees at Hotel Bliss, Tirupati. Other awardees were in the field of Youth Empowerment, Sanitation etc and two awardees received the Arjuna Award. Nelly Rodrigues & Anita Thorat presented papers at the National Seminar on the topic Participation of Women Leaders in Decision Making Process; Harbingers of Change in Village Governance of Rural India. At the Valedictory function, Nelly was the Chief Guest while Anita Thorat was the Special Invitee.
