The Devgad Taluka Patrakar Samiti's prestigious award for journalism, Balshastri Jambhekar Puraskar for the year 2020-21 was announced in the annual general meeting by Samiti president Prashant Wadekar. The Ideal Journalist award (for urban region) given in the name of the veteran journalist Balshastri Jambhekar urban region) was announced to the Devgad correspondent of Sindhudurg Live, Swapnil Yashwant Loke. This award will be given to Swapnil for his outstanding reporting in tourism, entrepreneurship and on common man's issues. The Ideal Journalist award for best reporting in the rural area has been announced for two more journalists - Nagesh Jaywant Dukhande (Talebazar) and Mahesh Shankar Teli (Gawane).
This year, for the first time, an award was conferred to Umabai Barve library at Devgad for organising a lecture series in the name of Balshastri Jambhekar for the past 10 years. The award ceremony will be held on February 20 on Balshastri Jambhekar's birth anniversary.
