The year 2023 has been declared as the International Year of Millets by the United Nations at the behest of the Government of India. To commemorate the occasion, St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim organized an intercollegiate interaction themed 'Through Millets we Grow' to raise awareness of and encourage the production and consumption of millets. The IQAC of St Joseph Vaz College in collaboration with the Zonal Agricultural Office (ZAO), Margao organised the event, which took place on March 23 in the seminar hall of the institution.
The event began with a prayer service and later followed with an opening address by the administrator Prof Simao R Diniz. The Chief Guest, Miguel Braganza, spoke to the participants and explained how millets can be served to people who don't like them by using delectable recipes. The resource persons for the event were Vismita Marathe from KVK, South and Jovita Rosada Siqueira from ZAO, Margao.
