PANAJI: With the participation of seven schools for special children in Goa, Udaan 2023 – the annual sports fest for people with intellectual disabilities was held in Goa at BITS Pilani Goa campus.
Organised by Nirmaan Organisation and Spree’23 in collaboration with Special Olympics Bharat and The Sarvodya Collective, the fest, organised after a span of three years was a super successful event, with the participation of 87 students from seven special schools across Goa participating in 100m Sprint, 50m Walk-Run, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, and Standing Long Jump athletic events, all competing for the gold, silver and bronze medals.
The students gathered at the BITS Pilani’s Student Activity Center early morning on the day of the fest. The event was inaugurated by Prof Suman Kundu, director of BITS Pilani Goa Campus, and Victor Vaz, the national director (sports) of Special Olympics Bharat, followed by an energetic dance performance by dance club of BITS Goa.
