MARGAO: United Club Unjirim thumped Corjem Youth Club 3-0 to enter the quarterfinals of 1st Caniza Peixoto Memorial football tournament, organised by Agxem Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday.
In an exciting match, Unjirim club showed urgency to score goals and hit the target in the 15th minute by Floyd Antao whose powerful left footer hit the side pole and went in the net while Corjem's Aden shot from edge of the box deflected Unjirim defence and went for a corner.
Changing over, Corjem's Glen Roy and Gilbert tried hard to find equaliser but luck did not favour them and Unjirim scored another two goals. Floyd Antao completed his brace in the 40th minute and Dawson Sardinha scored from close range in the 35th minute.
