Goans receives Dadasaheb Phalke award in Dubai

Social worker Vishanti Coutoncar from Mapusa, has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke International Icon award Dubai in the category of social activist, for acting as a 'guardian' for Indians in need and for supporting those who are vulnerable. Coutoncar has played a major role in helping Indians who were in Dubai during Covid times. Vishanti Coutoncar was the first person from Goa to receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award. The award ceremony organised by Consulate General of India (Dubai) was held at Habtoor Grand Resort in Dubai on July 27. Vishanti, an enthusiastic and self-driven social activist- is supporting needy people and facilitates counsellor-related work whenever needed. Previously in 2020, Vishanti was awarded by the Indian Government a ‘Certificate of Appreciation' from the Consulate General of India (Dubai), in recognition of her humanitarian work of assisting the Government of India’s ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ to repatriate Goans and others, in the pandemic times.
