MARGAO: Sporting Club Virabhat got the better of Madel Sports Club 3-1 to move into the quarter finals of 1st Caniza Peixoto memorial football tournament, organised by Agxem Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
Sporting Club Virabhat were in attacking mode from the word go when they tried to score goals and succeeded when Joslan Fernandes' powerful right foot from 30-yard crushed into the net giving no chance to Madel goalkeeper while Maxwell's right footer from the box missed the frame.
After resumption, Madel changed their plans and strategy as Asher was well fed by Velister who slotted past Virabhat goalkeeper to level the score 1-1 while Sporting Club Virabhat took control and scored two goals through Joslan Fernandes who completed his brace and Rice Fernandes added one during injury time.
