As a community outreach initiative, the Department of Zoology of Carmel College for Women, Nuvem organised a Three-day Virtual Lecture Series supported by the Panaji Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society on the topic "Infertility: An Embryologist's perspective in Assisted Reproductive Technologies" from November 21 to 23.
The resource person for the event was eminent Human Embryologist Dr Kersi Avari, Director Embryology Academy for Research and Training (EART), Mumbai. Over 270 participants registered for the event, from 8 Indian states and 2 countries.
The event commenced with an introduction from the Organising Secretary Karen Braganza, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology. The series opened with an address from Principal, Dr Sr. Maria Lizanne AC followed by the opening remarks by Dr Shailesh Kamat, a renowned Gynaecologist and President, Panaji Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society who emphasised the importance of creating awareness about Infertility and reproductive health. The lecture series touched various topics such as Male and Female Infertility, and the various techniques of artificial reproduction and the equipment and procedures used. On the last day Soniya Dessai proposed the vote of thanks.
