Peter Cardozo is the new sarpanch of the Village Panchayat of Raia. In the elections held on Friday, Peter was elected unopposed to the vacant post after the presiding officer received his lone nomination form for the post. Officials at the Salcete BDO office informed that seven out of the 11 panchayat members attended the meeting. The post of Raia sarpanch had fallen vacant after the outgoing sarpanch Judas Quadros had stepped down from office as an understanding between the ruling panchayat group.
