In the recently concluded panchayat polls, three block presidents won while one lost in Tiswadi with Congress block presidents winning in St Andre and St Cruz while BJP block president won in St Cruz.
In Merces, two block presidents emerged victorious with St Cruz BJP block president Pramod Kamat winning from ward 2 by garnering 271 votes. Also, St Cruz Congress block president Sushant Govekar won from ward 4 by defeating Chimbel ZP member Girish Uskaikar's brother Shirish by 23 votes.
Also winning was St Andre Congress block president Manoj Palkar who won from Siridao-Palem defeating heavyweight Kush Palkar by 23 votes.
In Se Old Goa though, Cumbarjua Congress block president Vishal Volvoikar lost to Vinayak Fadte by 50 votes.
Meanwhile, BJP's St Cruz youth block president Dayesh Vengurlekar also tasted success by defeating seasoned politician Yatin Palekar by a margin of 119 votes.
