A day after media reports emerged of a 70 year-old-man from the port town of Vasco testing positive for Covid-19, Goa's health officials are refusing to confirm any positive case even as State Epidemiologist Dr Utkarsh Betodkar opined that isolated cases are anticipated and not a worry.
Betodkar said the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has not confirmed any such case of a patient admitted there with a Covid-19 positie diagnosis.
"Officially there is no Covid-19 positive case in Goa. Also, even if there is one, such isolated cases are anticipated and not a bother. The important thing is, people with severe flu should exercise caution and avoid going to big gatherings to prevent others from catching it and consult a doctor, not self medicate," Dr Betodkar said.
Betodkar also said that unless there is 'severe mutation' observed in the strain of the virus, there is no cause for worry.
Meanwhile the Covid-19 tracker dashboard maintained by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare continues to show nil positive cases from Goa since it was last updated on Monday.
