Chaos ensued at Bhatwadi-Latambarcem as swarm of honeybees attacked Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye, a Zilla Panchayat member, and local residents during a transformer foundation-laying ceremony.
The sudden bee attack took place on Friday leaving MLA and other with injuries. While the program was underway, bees suddenly swarmed and attacked those in attendance, triggering a chaotic scramble throughout the area. MLA was seen leaving the area frantically as the number of bees continued to increase.
Many individuals suffered bee stings during the attack. Reports indicate that the MLA was also stung. Five to six of the injured were immediately admitted to the Bicholim Health Centre while one person, having sustained serious injuries, was transferred to a private hospital for further treatment.
A tense atmosphere prevailed in the area for some time following the incident. However, locals and those present at the scene promptly organized relief efforts and ensured that the injured were transported for medical treatment.
