Ahead of Grade 9 Semester I examination, scheduled in October, the Goa Board has directed all secondary schools to provide subject-wise student enrolment data for preparation of confidential material for the examination.

The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) in a circular issued to all secondary schools, has sought Grade 9 student enrolment data, subject-wise for the current academic year latest by August 25. The schools are provided with Google link to update the data.

“The data is required to prepare the confidential material at school and centre-wise for semester I Grade 9 examination,” Board secretary Vidhyadatta Naik said. The examinations are scheduled from October 7 onwards.

Following the request from  Goa State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) and the Headmasters Forum pointing out that the Semester I examination should coincide with the common examination scheduled for students from Grade 3-8 in October, the Board decided to commence the exam from the first week of October.

The Board has made it mandatory for schools to have CCTV cameras installed in the examination centres or classrooms. The examination will conclude on October 14.

This is the second year of implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for Grade 9. The Board frames the question papers for both the semesters and accordingly, it has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for schools and students to follow, akin to the protocols observed for the Class X and XII public exams.

While the question papers will be framed by the Board, the answer sheet corrections will be carried out by the schools themselves. The semester theory paper would be out of 40 marks while the practical and assignments comprise 60 marks.
