Barely a week that Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) Goa Chief was frank enough to confess its anti-corruption unit has no bribery case in the last five years, the head office in Delhi has shunted him to Mumbai Regional Training Center.

Sources confirmed to The Goan that Superintendent CBI (ACB) Ashesh Kumar has been replaced with Alok Kumar, who is currently the Additional Superintendent of the Mumbai Special Division.

Kumar's transfer order was issued on Monday and he is yet to be relieved, sources said.

The SP's sarcastic comment that Goa's tolerance to corruption is very high made headlines. He claimed that the Goa branch had not received a single complaint of bribery since 2018.

“We have registered three FIRs in the first 10 months of 2022, of which two cases were lodged by respective banks alleging loan fraud. Other than these, not a single complaint of bribery or disproportionate assets has come to us in the last five years, which indicates Goa has a high tolerance to corruption. We are not required here. This is Ram Rajya,” he was quoted as saying during a media interaction on Vigilance Awareness Week 2022, last Wednesday.
