Loud parties hosted despite cancellation of trade licence: P'yat member

The controversial Club Diaz at Anjuna, which has repeatedly faced action from authorities over alleged violations of noise pollution norms, has once again landed in trouble and has now been sealed by the Anjuna-Caisua panchayat.
The club, located at Gaunwadi, was sealed after the panchayat revoked its trade licence issued in 2024.
The licence was officially cancelled in March 2026 after the panchayat initiated due procedure by first issuing a show-cause notice and later passing a resolution to revoke the licence.
Despite the cancellation of the trade licence, sources in the panchayat alleged that Club Diaz continued commercial operations and hosted parties on the premises.
“The club continued to hold parties and loud music was being played, disturbing the peace in the surrounding area,” a panchayat member said on condition of anonymity.
This is not the first time the club has faced action from authorities.
Club Diaz was previously sealed in June last year for alleged noise pollution violations.
In 2024, the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) had also revoked the club’s operating consent under Section 31(A) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, citing repeated violations.
However, despite previous crackdowns and sealing orders, the club had managed to resume operations within days, raising concerns among locals about the effectiveness and longevity of enforcement measures.
The latest action by the Anjuna panchayat has once again brought the spotlight on regulatory enforcement in the coastal belt, particularly against establishments accused of repeatedly flouting norms.
The moot question now remains: how long will Club Diaz remain sealed this time?
With the tourism season now nearing its end, the closure of one of the area’s most talked-about nightlife venues is expected to have a noticeable impact on late-night party activity in Anjuna.
At the same time, residents hoping for quieter nights say they will be watching closely to see whether the latest action finally brings lasting compliance.
