Colva police bust online gambling racket in raid, arrest 3 from Gujarat

In a major raid conducted on Friday night, the Colva police has busted an online gambling racket by arresting three persons, all natives of Gujarat.

The police has seized two laptops, mobile phones and other online relatives articles, all worth around Rs 2.60 lakh.

Colva police station in-charge, PI Vikram Naik informed that the incident occurred late Friday night when a  police team comprising of PSI Prashant Bhagat along with PSI Manju Vantamuri, HC-5646 Rohan Naik, & PC-8370 Nikhil Naik were on a routine night patrol.

He said the police received information from reliable sources that online gambling is going on inside a flat at Vaswaddo, Benaulim. After verifying the same, the police obtained Search warrant from Sub-divisional Police Officer, Margao before conducting a raid on the flat.

During the raid, which went through the night till the wee hours of Saturday, the police team caught red handed three persons while accepting online illegal bets. The trio were found actively involved in online gambling activities in a common gaming house wherein computer based/online games were being operated within the closed premises”, PI Vikram staetd,

He said the police has registered FIR under section 3 and 4 of GDDPG Act upon the state complaint of PSI Manju Vantamuri.

The three accused arrested by the police includes, Sanny Telang, Rahul Patel and Tejaskumar Dabagar, all natives of Gujarat.

Further investigations are underway.
