Congress leader from Curtorim Moreno Rebello has moved the Curtorim village Panchayat seeking permission from the Curtorim Panchayat to install a statue of Jack Sequeira outside the Curtorim Panchayat Building.
Rebello said he has taken the initiative considering Dr. Jack Sequeira’s immense contribution in keeping the true identity of a "Goemkar" by spearheading the Opinion Poll Movement to prevent the merger of Goa into Maharashtra.
“The people of Curtorim had given complete support to the Opinion Poll movement by contributing in providing the highest "anti-merger" vote in entire Goa.
Keeping in mind these, I am of the opinion that in order to commemorate his dedication towards Goa and the love he received from Curtorim, his statue has to be installed to further motivate our youth and people of Curtorim to always hold Dr. Jack Sequeira always in pleasant memory”, Rebello stated in his application.
