The Opposition Congress has alleged that the housekeeping contract of the Directorate of Health Services has been tendered to a firm which quoted twice the quantum of another bid.

Former Congress State president Girish Chodankar on Sunday addressed a press conference where he made the allegation against the Health Minister and the BJP government for awarding the tender of the DHS Housekeeping contract to Eco Clean System & Solution.

Chodankar alleged that the Rs 104.8 crore bid was much higher than the Rs 47.03 crore quoted by Pradeep Shet through his firm Mahalsa Services.

Chodankar alleged that in the bidding process, the qualifying criteria was decided by the contractors themselves and Mahalsa Services' bid was rejected because it had no past experience of executing a similar contract worth at least Rs 10 crore.

“Government had not estimated the cost of this service, it had to be done by the bidder. This is clear cut that it was a fixed process," Chodankar alleged.

“Shet’s bid was deliberately rejected on flimsy ground. His financial bid was not even opened over this matter to keep him out of the process," Chodankar said, adding that the contract will be a lott of Rs 118 crore as the conditions in the tender permit extension for another five years.

He said, Shet has got relief from the High Court which has directed that his technical bid be reconsidered and the financial bid opened.
