A young police constable attached to the Police Escort Cell ended his life in his house at Daboli-Shiroda in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Vaibhav Naik had joined the Goa Police only a few months ago.
Ponda police received information on Tuesday morning that Vaibhav Ulhas Naik (23) had committed suicide at his residence. The police went to the spot and conducted a panchanama. Investigations revealed that Naik was on leave on the previous day of his suicide.
Police also found that he had contacted some people on the phone till Monday midnight. It is being suspected that Naik ended his life due to a one-sided love affair.
The body was sent for an autopsy to the South Goa District Hospital at Margao and police investigations are being conducted under the guidance of Ponda Police Inspector Tushar Lotlikar.
