The Cuncolim Civic and Consumer Forum (CCCF) has strongly criticised the inadequate supervision by Electricity Department officials during the installation of underground cables in Cuncolim, resulting in damage to BSNL fibre optic cables.

Lorna Fernandes, Secretary of CCCF, stated that since 8.30 pm on Tuesday, consumers of BSNL Fibre To The Home (FTTH) service have faced difficulties due to disruptions in internet and linked landline services.

Fernandes explained, "According to reliable sources in BSNL, the contractors' staff from the Electricity Department damaged the BSNL cables being laid along the Highway near the KTC Bus Stand in Cuncolim. As of 2.30 pm today, February 21, the disrupted service has not been restored."

CCCF has decided to raise this issue with District Collector Asvin Chandru A, IAS, Chairman of the South Goa District Consumer Protection Council, as well as with Amit Sawant, Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
