In a bid to cover the physical and mentally challenged, old and infirm people who are bedridden and may have missed out until now, a vaccination drive has been launced by Street Providence, a Sangolda-based NGO in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services.
The vaccination drive was started to administer the shots to an estimated 10,000 such people on Thursday and it will also cover residents of shelter homes, Old age homes and Rehabilitation Homes.
The facility will be provided in the vicinity of the beneficiaries and in special cases at individual homes, a statement released by the NGO said.
Street Providence said it will identify the beneficiaries and provide free transport to medical staff from various Health Centres to the designated vaccination site.
The NGO's Founder Trustee, Donald Fernandes said he is grateful to a philanthropic foundation which is supporting the vaccination drive and urged people to help them identify beneficiaries and report to either the nearest Health Centre or his NGO on 83800 97564 / 70203 14848.
